Portfolio, Sharbani Das Gupta
Sharbani Das Gupta is a distinguished visual artist and writer, holding a Visual Arts degree from the National Institute of Design, India. She further specialized in ceramics through her studies at Golden Bridge Pottery in Puducherry. Her talent and expertise have led to broad international recognition; she was a notable participant in “50 Women” at NCECA’s 50th anniversary and has showcased her work extensively across the globe, with exhibitions in China, Greece, the UK, Australia, India, and the US. Das Gupta’s artistic journey has also been enriched by receiving several prestigious international artist residencies, including a recent one in Israel.
Beyond her studio practice, Das Gupta is an accomplished writer whose insights can be found in The Art and Craft of Clay by Jan Peterson, as well as various esteemed ceramic journals. Currently based in New Mexico, she continues to be an active voice in the arts community, notably moderating a panel on cultural appropriation at NCECA. Her significant contributions to the field were recently acknowledged with her election to the International Academy of Ceramics.
