Portfolio, Francine Mury
IERI. OGGI. SULLA SOGLIA.  昨天、今天、在门槛上

Francine Mury (b.1947) is an artist from Montreux, Switzerland who spent much of her childhood in Basel–a city that remains the cultural reference point for her work. Francine has made the research of colour, canvas form, paper and Artists Books the main focus of her work, with the intention of transcribing states of mind.
Presence and absence, opacity and transparency, geometry and chance, elements which are only in appearance contrasting, distinguish her work. The references to the natural world are implicit in certain forms and explicit in the chromatic span that characterizes her work, but the abstraction of what is given concretely obscures and overrides the initial references.
Her work can be seen in public and private collections both in Switzerland and abroad.

IERI. OGGI. SULLA SOGLIA.  昨天、今天、在门槛上

This print series continues Francine Mury’s ongoing project inspired by her travels to China, compiling a body of photographs captured through the rain-streaked, grimy window of a fast-moving train traversing the Chinese landscape. The prints created at Gate 44 are Francine’s free interpretation of these photographs, brought to life using the photopolymer etching technique with manual intervention on select images.
Encased within a handmade box are six photogravures, part of a limited edition of 7. Each print is individually numbered and signed by the artist.
