Print Block Patterns Library

Castelli Leuca is a cultural project located in the centre of Giuliano di Lecce. The town, located 5 km from Santa Maria di Leuca, lies on the Via Francigena, which runs from Canterbury across Europe to Leuca, once the destination of pilgrims and crusaders embarking at Finibus Terrae to reach the Holy Land. The redevelopment project of Castello Giuliano as a cultural attraction aims to support the architectural and cultural preservation of the site, promoting its use through artistic, creative, cultural and experiential tourism activities. Spaces for art, design, performances and exhibitions have been developed, as well as the creation of a textile art and design factory with residences for artists, designers and students.

Print Block Patterns Library

Print Blocks Patterns Library is an archival project produced by Gate 44 for Barbara Zucchi Frua’s private collection. Barbara is the creator of the redevelopment project of Castello Giuliano in Lecce. The project consists of five boxes containing handmade prints of one-of-a-kind samples of block patterns used for hand-printing on fabric dating back to the 20th century. Each container contains a motif of a different decorative style: cashmere, geometric, floral, figurative, abstract. Each container was custom designed and built entirely by hand.
